The Kahn-Do Coach.
Training Tomorrow’s Talent, Today
When young VO talent work with Martha, they learn to say “Yes, I Kahn”
Martha Kahn is an experienced acting coach, writer, and producer who specializes in helping kids find their voice, build self-esteem, and launch successful voice over careers.
After serving as the resident VO coach of Brooke Byler Action Studios and previously within the acting program at The Royal Academy of Performing Arts — where she guided dozens of actors into the world of voiceover — Martha started Yes I Kahn Kids Voice Over so she could focus on doing what she loves most: Working with kids.
“I love it when a kid shuffles in, head down, script in hand with an ‘I can’t do this attitude’ and by the time they leave they are so excited because we have worked that script and created characters that reflect their ability to make something out of nothing,” she says. “They are so jazzed and proud of themselves that they actually did it themselves — with a little guidance! They leave beaming, the parents are happy, and it’s a win-win.”
Many of the kids she works with are already with LA agents and need to learn VO skills to attract an agent and win auditions. Others are just beginners and want to learn the craft. Others just want to play, create, have some fun, and see what happens. No matter what, Martha will help them build confidence and gain skills that will help them not only in the world of VO but in life.
In addition to coaching, Martha writes, produces, and directs demos in her state-of-the-art home studio — demos that have landed kids with top LA agencies. And while the focus is on teaching kids how to express themselves creatively and uniquely through the use of acting skills, she has had five kids placed in network animation series (Netflix, Universal Kids, Disney) while working with her.
Martha has a BFA in Theater Arts and a minor in Children’s Theater from Drake University and has a passion for working with kids of all ages — even when that means working with grown-ups. She has taught Creative Arts and Drama to preschoolers on up as well as teachers.
Martha is a member of the World-Voices Organization who lives and breathes VO — and has had a pulse on the industry and industry standards and needs. As Talent Manager of the prestigious Branding, Marketing, and Management firm, Celia Siegel Management for 7 years, Martha connected with Casting Directors, Agents, and Agencies that hire talent.
Known for her smarts, grounding, and positive energy, Martha is a joy to work with. With an active VO career herself for the past 15 years, she has trained with the top tier of voice over coaches in the country and still continues to hone her craft regularly.
